rotabench EPS Mod. 5 Test Bench Control

The rotabench® EPS Mod. 5PCB provides a fast and easy connection between a test bench software and the test bench hardware (drive, torque sensor, encoder) via Ethernet or CAN bus. The loading unit is controlled via analog setpoint channels and 24 V digital I/O. Furthermore, the board features all necessary I/Os and an RS232 interface to operate a Kistler 4503 (A, B) torque sensor, including an encoder with 5V TTL output.

This device acts as an abstraction layer between the test bench hardware on the IO level and the test bench control software on the other side. By eliminating the need for custom hardware and low-level software development, our device reduces time-to-market by 100+ hours and offers immediate integration with high-level test bench operations.

There are three major use cases for this device:

A) save the engineering cost and time to create your own abstraction layer for your hardware when setting up a new test bench project
B) use rotabench EPS to retrofit existing legacy test benches to integrate them into modern control software
C) use it as an addon for the rotabench 6P inverter series so you can use the integrated test bench control functionality of the inverter control & measurement software

The board features four 24V digital inputs, three 24V digital outputs, and two analog ±10V setpoint outputs for controlling the frequency inverter of a drive unit. The Kistler 4503 torque sensor is connected to the board using both cables (“Control” and “Signal”) and is also powered from the board. The sensor configuration is read out via RS232.

The device comes with the rotabench EPS Basic software, which gives you full access to all hardware features, makes the initial startup quick and easy, allows you to calibrate the IOs and operate the test bench in a manual mode.

The rotabench EPS software can either be expanded with standard software modules like Cogging Torque Measurement, Characteristic Curve Measurement or Torque ripple measurement – just by changing the license file – or can be the basis for a custom test bench control software, including DUT management, test series management, test reports and a measurement manager. The Basic License – which is used for maintainance and startup – is free and can be downloaded from the product website.

We do not charge anual license fees, we do not sell software as a service. You buy it = You own it. This means you can use this tech as long as you want without registration or anual payments.
